The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has announced its intention to seek arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the 2014 Gaza conflict.

ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan said in a statement that he has concluded that there is "reasonable basis to believe" that Netanyahu and Haniyeh are responsible for crimes committed during the conflict, which claimed the lives of over 2,000 Palestinians. The ICC's investigation focused on allegations of unlawful killings, torture, and other serious crimes committed by both sides during the 50-day war.

Khan said that he had applied to the court's Pre-Trial Chamber to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Haniyeh. He also requested that the chamber issue arrest warrants for Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif, who are also suspected of being responsible for war crimes.
